one more sunset

I know I have posted several sunset photos already (Oct 22, a little bit of foreground; Nov 10, thank God for sunsets; Dec 6, one more sunset photo), but can I help it? Sunsets are just so beautiful and I am sure you will not mind seeing another one. Right? I hope so.

I was sitting in front of my computer one afternoon and I saw this fiery red sunset from my window. I immediately stopped what I was doing, got my camera, went out, and just started shooting away. I got several pictures that afternoon and what I'm sharing today is just one of them. I printed some of the photos and every time I showed them to friends, they would always pick out this specific photo as one of their favorites.

I'm going to repeat what I said in my Nov 10 post - 'thank God for sunsets'.

I'll catch the sun

I thought that today I'll take a break from all the reds and greens and share with you another sunset picture.

This is taken from my hometown and that's my daughter acting as my model. I asked her to pose as if she is holding the sun in her hands. The effect is rather nice, don't you think so?

The title comes from the poem/song of Rod Mckuen.
"I’ll catch the sun
and never give it back again
I’ll catch the sun
and keep it for my own.

And in a world where no one understands
I’ll take my outstretched hand
and offer it to anyone
who comes along and tells me
he’s in need of love
in need of hope
or maybe just a friend.

Perhaps, in time
I’ll even share my sun
with that new anyone
to whom I gave my hand.

Perhaps, in time
I’ll even share my sun
with that new anyone
to whom I gave my hand."

one more sunset photo

I'm sharing one more sunset photo today. I saw this boy walking back along the beach as if on his way home, so you can guess this photo's title - it's "coming home".

As I mentioned before, I never tire of taking sunset photos, so you will just have to bear with me if you see one more today.

not just another sunset photo

“Every cloud has a silver lining”. How true this adage is, as shown in this photo I am sharing today. Storm clouds were gathered that afternoon but the setting sun created a perfect rim light on their edges. It was a magical moment for me and I want to share this magic.

thank God for sunsets

I am enjoying this daily blog. As I search daily through my pictures looking for something to share, I usually stop and ask myself, "why did I take this photo?" Then memories come flooding and I sit awhile going through not only my photo bank but my memory bank as well.

So why did I take this sunset photo? Why? Who can resist a sunset photo? I can't. Everytime I see a sunset, I want to take its photo. Its beauty makes me want to own it, to have it with me longer, to have it with me forever. Every sunset that I see fills me with wonder at the beauty of God's creation. Sunsets make my heart sing.

I have so many sunset photos. I have enough to last me a lifetime and beyond. Still, I take another sunset photo everytime I witness one.

So I share with you today something that makes my heart sing and I hope you sing with me.

a little bit of foreground

Yesterday I posted my first sunrise picture; today it’s the turn of my first sunset picture. This is sunset over Manila Bay taken from a hotel window.

I have learned that it’s always good to include a little bit of foreground to give depth to a sunset or sunrise picture. When I took this picture though, I did not know that composition rule. All I remember was I did not want my picture to be just all sun, sky and water, thus I included that plant. I must have been developing an artist eye even then although I was aware of it at that time.
